Lent, Holy Week and Easter

Walk through the Bible this Lent -The Old Testament in a Nutshell

The Old Testament is vitally important to our understanding of Jesus but we rarely dwell on it in any great depth. Our Lent Course this year will be presented by 'Walk through the Bible,' who are committed to guiding people through the 'big picture' of the Biblical texts.

The course will run from Wednesday 13 March to 10 April, from 7.30 to 9pm. There is a cost of £14 for all five sessions and a helpful workbook.

Palm Sunday                                          14 April 

8.00am      Holy Communion
10.00am    Sung Eucharist with the Blessing of Palms and Dramatic Reading of the Passion according to St Luke

Maundy Thursday                                18 April 

8.00pm        Eucharist in Church with washing of feet and stripping of the altar followed by silent vigil before the blessed sacrament until Midnight

Good Friday                                           19 April 

10.00am      Family Service 
11.00am      Liturgy with Veneration of the Cross and Communion in the Old Royal Naval College Chapel
12.15pm      Procession of the Cross from the Old Royal Naval College Chapel to St Alfege Church 
12.45pm      ‘Seven Last Words from the Cross’- Haydn’s sonatas and
-3.00pm       led meditations on Jesus’s words from the four gospels

Easter Day                                            21 April
8.00am       Holy Communion
10.00am     Sung Eucharist with Renewal of Baptismal Vows and Easter Egg hunt for the children

Ascension Day                                     30 May

8.00am    Said Eucharist with short sermon
